Every year the event just seems to grow bigger and bolder, we do our research before we go and still we only ever manage to scratch the surface. Salone Del Mobile has almost 2000 exhibitors alone with out including the Fuorisalone, a further series of events distributed across the city. There are so many highlight and we visited so many brands over the four days and we are going to share just a few of our favourites.
First up; Miniforms, where we really admired the Colony Range, this included Rattan Armchairs in a selection of different colourways and the Colony table – coffee, side and dining table. The central base for all tables are made from solid walnut and rattan, whilst the top is ceramic.
Dixie swooning over the Colony armchair!
Cigales is a series of flower pots that helps you to start an indoor garden. We thought that these were great fun & a pleasing alternative to the hanging planter.
Mariolina also caught our eye; she has a polypropylene shell, available in five colours and can have an upholstered seat and different metallic or wooden bases.
Isn’t she lovely?
Next we wandered (read raced!) onto Serralunga who have stunning classics for the garden and have two new finishes released just in time for that garden party & BBQ weather. The finishes are defined by nature and these are Marble and Oxidised metal.
Another one to make it to our hit list was Magis. Magis were one of the winners of the Salone del Mobile this year (congratulations!!). They presented the Linnut collection (design Oiva Toikka) developed in collaboration with Iittala. Staring the famous Birds collection, the blown glass birds design was made from moulded polycarbonate.
The Brut Range collaboration with Konstantin Grcic was stunning, no explanation required, a picture paints a thousand words (If you’re old enough to remember the song by Bread, you’ll be humming this tune…).
Lets end with some all out luxury (note this is not an exhaustive list of our favourites!) – and head to Arflex…stunning upholstery, detailing, occasional pieces…coming soon to our Edinburgh Showroom.
Fino alla prossima volta Milano!
